Featuring work of three MIT affiliated photographers—Doc Edgerton, Berenice Abbott and Felice Frankel— Images of Discovery paired original photographs from MIT Museum collection with interactive stations. Each interactive allowed visitors to capture their own digital images using photographic techniques used by the featured photographers. Visitors could experiment with adjusting the speed of a strobe to capture images of a bouncing ball or water drop, with photographing a ripple tank or ferro-fluid, or with creating their own ultra-slow motion video. Captured images could then be saved to the web. Over the course of the exhibition visitors uploaded over 135,000 images.
